DIRECTIONS:

The village of Froncysyllte is situated on the A5 between Chirk and Llangollen.

 

From the South - Enter the village and go across the pedestrian crossing.  You will see a bus lay-by on your left. Just at the end of the lay-by is a road (which looks like someone’s driveway!) going up parallel to the A5; this is Alma Road. Follow this road as it goes round a sharp left hand bend. (If you exit village you have missed it so use North directions)

 

From the North -  Leave Llangollen on A5 and come past Llangollen Golf Club, past a set of double lay-bys and into a wooden area. Exiting these woods start looking for a right turn marked with an end of clearway sign. (If you get into the village you have missed it so use South directions). Follow this lane until you reach Y junction. Turn right.

 

From Trevor - Come across river and up to junction with A5. Go straight across A5 into Alma Road. Follow this road as it goes round a sharp left hand bend.

 

Heading up hill, after 40 yards, turn right — signposted Yr Ochr. This is a very sharp bend, so depending on the steering-lock on your car, you may not get round in one attempt. If you get to the sign for Woodland Road you have come too far.

 

You are now on my lane (Yr Ochr) but you need to go up, up and up! To about 1000ft above sea level.

 

Leave houses behind and climb steep wooded hill to come out into fields. There is a white farm on the right called Llanerch. Go past this up the next steep hill and Ty Newydd is next on your left. You can park at the front of the house. Remember we are 1000ft up so keep going!
